Hey, we have an espresso bar for a reason. Maybe you need a little break for some idle chit chat. Some water cooler talk can be nice.

But what’s it like on a daily basis? To be working alongside business professionals, inside a shared office space? Here are some pros and cons to consider:

• PRO: All the benefits of an office, without the cost

What do you really get out of a private office, aside from the privacy? A place to get some work done? A professional setting for meeting with business partners or clients?

Those things are perfectly possible with shared office space. We’ll ensure you always have your own space, with a desk and internet connection. You come and go as needed, whenever our building’s doors are open – but get to save yourself from a pricey lease.

• CON: A (slight) lack of privacy

News reporters have been working alongside each other in newsrooms for decades, which means privacy is hard to come by. More introverted reporters have struggled with this, sometimes going to extraordinary lengths for some alone time – like conducting phone interviews underneath their desks.

So if you’re looking for that level of privacy on a regular basis, then shared office space might not be for you. However, in our case, we do offer private phone booths and meeting space as needed.

• PRO: A chance to network

In the business world, connections are everything. Is it a coincidence that so many newsmakers used to be college roommates? No way.

Look, we’re not saying you’re going to meet your Mark Zuckerberg here. But you might meet a new business partner, a potential client, or just a new pal. At worst, you’ll find someone to share your coffee breaks with.

• CON: It’s all business here

If you need to take a break, we understand; that’s another reason for our espresso bar. But we’ve promised our clients a productive workspace; so that’s what we provide. We keep the workspace as professional as possible, and ensure that everything is working properly at all times.
