What Personality Types Thrive in Coworking Spaces?

Mar 21, 2023 13:43:14 PM by

Coworking spaces are changing the way the world does business. In the past, entrepreneurs would often work from their home office, away from like-minded people. Now, spaces where people can go and work alongside other entrepreneurs, freelancers and remote workers is becoming a new trend. Of course, these collaborative spaces aren’t a good fit for everyone, which begs the question: what personality types thrive in coworking spaces?

Sociable Personalities

Sociable personalities benefit greatly in coworking spaces. These are the people that love to talk to their coworkers or see a friendly face when they go to get a drink of water. Many self-employed struggle with working from home or in their own office because they never get to experience the social aspects of working in a big office. People that like to:
  • Talk to coworkers
  • Make new friends
These are the people that thrive in these spaces.

People That Need Structure

One of the most common reasons people become self-employed is because they want to control their day-to-day lives. Working for yourself has a lot of benefits, such as choosing your own hours to work or taking the middle of the day off to play soccer. The issue is that many people can’t find the self-control they need to excel in a home environment. Coworking spaces allow for a central space where a person can work the hours they want, but still have a professional setting to work in. Concentration levels are increased when working amongst other diligent workers as well as hitting deadlines and optimal productivity levels. People that need that extra level of motivation and control will find these spaces beneficial. There is also the benefit of validation and expertise. Working among other people allows you to ask questions or opinions on an idea or project. Demonstrating your expertise, you’ll also be able to help others that need advice or help with something that you specialize in. Networking opportunities and a sense of community further lead to the sense of structure and the social atmosphere that people thrive in. Image source: Texas State Library
